Apply the eleven asset states consistently from availability through retirement.
The asset lifecycle
Supported states are available, reserved, loaded, delivered, rented, picked up, cleaning, maintenance, missing, damaged, and retired, with operational transitions driven by your process.
- Ready or committed — Available, reserved, and loaded describe inventory before customer use.
- With the customer — Delivered and rented identify inventory in the active rental flow.
- Coming back — Picked up and cleaning keep returned units out of available capacity until ready.
- Exception states — Maintenance, missing, damaged, and retired are unavailable and require deliberate resolution.
Status discipline
Scan or update at the real handoff point. Do not mark cleaning assets available in bulk merely to make availability pass; correct the underlying inspection and state.
